How can you set up your small business website to bring in new website visitors and potential clients on a continual basis?
Add new information consistently
If you want to consistently draw new customers through your website, you will need to add new content frequently throughout the first year, and then consistently from then on out. Here’s why: Google looks for websites that are adding new content on a consistent basis. They want to give you the best, most current content on any subject. When Google finds a website that regularly posts new content, they rank that website higher.
Add Search Engine Optimization
The cool thing about WordPress websites, is that there are “plugins” for almost everything you need.
The two I recommend for Search Engine Optimization are AIOSEO and YoastSEO. You can check out my tutorial on how to use YoastSEO. And here’s a tutorial on how to add and use AIOSEO.
Search Engine Optimization also sets you up to win over the long haul. Though I don’t necessarily recommend that you set up your website and then never post new information, I have one website that I set up for a client over 12 years ago where I did Search Engine Optimization for each of the articles originally uploaded to the website. This website continues to draw between 150-200 new website visitors a month and 4-15 phone calls to the business owner per week.
These are potential clients, continually coming in to the business owner because of content that was posted 3-5 years ago. This client continues to rank highly on Google because of the highly specialized nature of the business.
